Joan had many names through her life and it is easiest to define her by these nicknames. First she was known as "Joanie." She grew up in Pueblo, Colo. She grew up to become an x-ray technician. On July 21, 1954, she married her sweetheart, John Tindle, and they settled in Ventura. On April 1, 1956, she became "Mom" with the birth of her first child. She embraced this roll and she was awesome . She never missed any event that we did in school, and yes you could hear her cheers above all of the rest. The high school swim team insisted they could hear her under the water! She encouraged her children to be anything that they wanted to be and raised three successful children that she was very proud of. After the death of her husband May 13, 1973, she went to work as an attendance clerk at Balboa Middle School, she loved her job. She became known as "Ma Tindle" to students and her friends children. Kids were drawn to her; she recently said that she was meant to always have children in her life. In May of 1974 she was voted mother of the year for Ventura County, a proud moment for all of us. July of 1988 she was so excited to become "Grammy." She moved to Northern Nevada to be close to the grandchildren. She was a partner in raising all of her grandchildren. When we needed her she was there. She still took care of the little ones three days a week . Many friends called her "Grammy" because again she took in everyone as if they were her own. Her crowning glory was the birth of her great-granddaughter, Kayleigh Grace Tindle, she became "Naunee," the most precious name of all. Everyone who spoke to her was sure to hear the latest move this child made! She was involved with many organizations and clubs throughout her life. She touched so many. No matter what name you know her by she was always, proud, loving, thoughtful and mostly a true friend to all. She will be deeply missed. Published in Ventura County Star from May 14 to May 17, 2011
